Summer Reading Series Giveaway: Food Allergy-Friendly Coookbook

August 4, 2010 Uncategorized

One Autographed Cookbook, Two Winners. I mean, one book for each of you of course, the winners don’t need to share! Moving on …

This week’s giveaway is Sophie-Safe Cooking by my fellow author friend, Emily Hendrix. This is a fun cookbook with very easy, kid-friendly recipes. And when I say kid-friendly, I mean it … the portions sizes are even little-finger friendly. I must admit, I felt a lot less guilty downing three of the scrumptious pumpkin muffins I made from this book since they were half-pint in size. Of course, you can always double the serving sizes for heartier palates.

The entire book is free of the top eight allergens – milk, wheat, eggs, soy, nuts, peanuts, fish, and shellfish. In other words, the recipes are family favorites that Emily made “Safe” for her food allergic daughter Sophie. It is a great, comfort food collection.

Take note that Emily does use oat flour quite a bit in her recipes (which you can easily make from regular oats or certified gluten-free oats). So the recipes are suitable for many gluten-free consumers, but not those who still can’t tolerate gluten-free oats. Personally, I love that she uses oat flour, because I love oats!

Okay, lets roll …

    Hi,
I’d like to win this because I’m a vegan who is also allergic to dairy, as well as having some health problems. I’m also trying to introduce my family to some of the more omnivore-friendly vegan recipes, and I think this cookbook could help with that.
    Thank you!

I would love to win this book because, honestly, you never know who is coming over for dinner! And I like to be prepared…I don’t want anyone to feel left out because they can’t eat something that I’ve cooked.

Also, in response to your comment, I did add email subscriptions! There’s a little icon on the top right part of my page where you can enter in your info!

Both my sons have severe food allergies. We avoid 7 of the top 8 allergens, plus a few others. This cookbook would be great to have for them! I love to cook and bake, but it can be difficult to find recipes that are actually yummy.

This is my very first time on your website. I found it on the “Go dairy free” website. I have five children. My #3 & #4 (twins) are allergic to 7 of the eight top allergies and my #5 is lactose intolerant. I am constant learning how to bake and cook for them and am looking for recipes that our entire family can enjoy. As you know the budget is essential. I’ve never seen this cookbook and think it would be a great place to start. Thanks for the new ideas! Very encouraging!

    Hi Alisa!

just a question about a “tiny” detail: are your giveaways open for international – European – readers?
Most of the food blogs I follow exclude international readers from their cook books giveaways, which I totally understand, so I was wondering about it.

    Thank you!
    Susana.
