Giveaway: Vegan Brunch AND Vegan Soul Kitchen

September 8, 2009 Cookbook Trials Giveaways

Entries are closed. The winner will be announced in the next post!

It is a vegan themed giveaway today on my humble blog, though you need not be vegan to enjoy these dairy-free, egg-free, animal-free gems!

vegancookbookgiveaway2

I reviewed Vegan Soul Kitchen personally, and I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. You can read my full review on Go Dairy Free, but really, I am still making my way through this highly creative book of easy recipes (yes I said creative and easy!). Bryant Terry put so much energy and thought into Vegan Soul Kitchen; it really is amazing.

I have just cracked open Vegan Brunch , so I will defer you to my good friend Sarena’s review of the latest cookbook by the famed Isa Moskowitz. Sarena has seriously put Vegan Brunch to the test, so you can take her word for it that it is good!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so this will be tough! I think my favorite breakfast food has to be pancakes, especially pumpkin pancakes. I am just a sucker for all things pumpkin-y. What a great giveaway!

French Toast is my favorite special day breakfast, it reminds me of great family memories growing up. However, nothing beats fresh fruit and soy milk before a day at the office!

It’s really hard to pick one breakfast/brunch dish. I would eat breakfast for every meal if it was possible. By far the best meal of that day. I’d have to go with some sort of omelette with tons of veggies and cheese. When I’m feeling super healthy – I do a tofu scramble instead. But always heavy on the veggies!

WOW cookbook givewaways are always so rare, but SO AWESOME. I can’t believe there are 2 books too!!! So…I would definitely keep my fingers and toes crossed.

My favorite brunch has got to be salmon eggs benedict sans hollandaise sauce but WITH a lotta ketchup!! My favorite vegan brunch might have to be stir-fried rice noodles with shredded carrots, snow peas, mushrooms, and tofu! MMM chinese food rocks.

My favorite breakfast/brunch is a croissant with a vegan sausage patty and vegan cheese.
I’d love a recipe for a good hemp protein/flax, vegan “omega” muffin.
I’d also like a vegan version of Poppy Seed Kolatch.

My favorite vegan breakfast so far is a vegan version of what I used to call “eggpile”, so we’ll call it “veggpile”.

    You will need:

    Tofu Scrambler
one block (12 oz.) of Firm or Extra Firm Tofu, drained and pressed (I prefer Firm)
    Earth Balance natural buttery spread
Tofutti (American flavor) slices or comparable
and finally your choice of either:
    tempeh bacon OR
    vegan TVP sausage-style
    depending on your preference.

cook the Tofu Scrambler (including block of tofu) and tempeh bacon or sausage as per the directions on the package

melt the Tofutti slices into it, stir it all together

serve on a toasted bread of your choosing or on a plate to be eaten with a fork with a side of pancakes

It’s like McDonald’s without the holy F-ing bad for you

Wow, I’m excited! Thank you so much!
My new favorite breakfast item is soy yogurt with raw buckwheat groats. I know they are not for everyone, but I just love how crunchy they are. And of course I need to compliment that with lots of fruit.

My favorite breakfast recipe is from your site! We make your Fluffy Fruited Spelt Pancakes at least once a week. My son is dairy-free, egg-free, and these pancakes are such a special treat at our house. Our only problem is the recurrent debate over whether to use bananas or blueberries for the fruit!
