Giveaway: A Raw Food Cookbook!
First things first … the winner of the I’m Organic Giveaway from last week is Stephanie! Congrats, and I believe you will have a cute eco-friendly mug coming your way. For those who didn’t win, you can still check out the I’m Organic website for cool stuff (they recently lowered their prices – now cheapo me thinks this stuff is a deal!), and I have another giveaway ….
This week you could win The Raw Truth: Recipes and Resources for the Living Foods Lifestyle by Jeremy Safron …
It’s finally summer, so I couldn’t imagine a better style of “cookbook” to have than one that doesn’t require you to turn on the oven or stove!
This book has a nice informational guide section at the beginning, giving a low-down on raw foods and some of those details that may be fuzzy for us newbies (sprouting, culturing, dehydrating, which foods are classified as raw, how to make the transition, health benefits, etc.), followed up by a plethora of recipes. Today on Go Dairy Free, I note the recipes that caught my eye in terms of which I would want to make, but here are some other recipes in this book that sound really intriguing:
- Ruby Cooler
- Fruit Rawies
- Creamy Carrot-Ginger Soup
- Cauliflower Chowder
- Apple Cinnamon Essence Bread
- Chile Mole
- Tamales
- Tribal Wild Rice Salad
- Brownies
- Ultimate Sundae
- And the list goes on …
To enter, just comment here on your favorite raw food recipe. If your like me, it is probably a smoothie or salad, but maybe some of you have done a little more adventuring in raw foods!
The winner will be picked next week!

I’d have to say my favorite is raw veggie spring rolls. 😀
My favourite raw food is salsa fresca. I love the texture & spice blend. Tomatoes, lime, jalapeno, cilantro and tomatillos! Colourful and a party on my palette! 😀
Raw carrot cake with cashew frosting. Mmm 🙂
My favourite definitely has to be a my mom’s spaghetti with zucchini noodles and lots of fresh veggies that have marinated for days!
A smoothie => the best!!!!!!!
definitely raw energy bars, mmm!
I just LOVE banana lemon pie – which is a recipe I blogged about the other day!
Hm, my favourite raw food is cashew date bars (cashews, dates, pinch of salt!) such a yummy treat!
Banana “soft serve”. It’s delicious and SO easy. Also, cookie dough balls made with raw nuts and dates. It’s not fully raw because it does have vanilla in it, but they taste so good.
Because I’m a sushi fan I’ve always liked raw sushi! mmmm
I am transitioning into incorporating more raw foods in my diet! I love green smoothies, and wish to try raw lasagna, soon! If I win this book, I bet there is a great lasagna recipe in it! 🙂
I once made pumpkin chia pudding… it was amazing!
So far this summer it is everything raw and fresh. From fruit salads to taboule salad. Anything that produces it’s own juice… yum! We’ve been into pineapples and coconuts, limes… oh my! Give me fresh and give me local.
I love making raw cheeses only w/o the nutritional yeast. They are so versatile and if you leave out the savory stuff and add in some coconut cream and sweetener you get cheesecake! Yum yum.
I haven’t done much raw food “cooking”. Usually I just make a smoothie with raw spinach, cabbage, blueberries, strawberries, a little water and some truvia. I would like to get more adventurous though!
Hard to choose!
Kristen Suzanne’s Cherry Chocolate Bomb smoothie recipe is hard to beat. Seriously, it will change your life.
A close second would have to be Averie’s raw cheesecake recipe from loveveggiesandyoga.com.
I divide the recipe into individual muffin cups in a tin before I put it in the freezer to set. Top with fresh blueberries and strawberries and it is the BEST right out of the freezer on a hot day. <3
Sounds like a great book–I’d love it! My favorite raw treat is either my frosted lemon-poppyseed bars or my raw gingersnap cookie bon bons–but of course I’m a dessert gal! 🙂
smoothies or banana soft serve.
Okay, totally not entering, but I just had to tell you that I just ordered this book yesterday. For some reason, I just felt like I wanted a new good raw food cookbook. Great review, by the way! 😉
I haven’t done much experimenting so smoothie would be my current favorite.
Salsa!
Guacamole with tomatoes, lime & lots of cilantro! Great on a hot day. First time to your site – I like it.
Smoothies!! Anything I can juice and throw together in my blender is definite!
Chewy cherry charger balls from the Raw Energy cookbook – almond s, almond butter, dried cherries, agave nectar, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and salt. Delicious.
My favorite right now is Raw Curried Cashew Chard Wraps. Recipe: http://www.glutenfreecat.com/?p=5338

I love raw-violi!! Yummy
I haven’t done much for raw foods other than salads and smoothies, but interested in learning more. My favorite smoothie recipe is vanilla hemp milk, avocado, fruit of choice, and a little honey.
I am very intregued by the banana softserve everyone is mentioning. Will have to google this!
I like making raw cookies with nuts – we made a delicious thumbprint cookie recipe using cashews and coconut with strawberry jam filling last week!

Chocolate avocado pudding. Mmmmmm : )
Avocado pudding is so yummy!
I love using avocados to make raw pies and fudgesicles!!
I’m a salad girl at heart 🙂
Salads, salads, salads. We want to buy a dehydrator and make all the crackers and burgers. They look so great!
Massaged kale salad. I just started eating this and I now love and crave kale. I would love to move into more raw meals.
I really like this salad with mixed mini-timatoes, fresh corn cut off the cob, and avacado served on a bed of baby greens and sprinkled with hemp seed!!
Another smoothie fan here. So quick and easy!
Just about any kind of smoothie this time of year is the best. I like to experiment with different flavors.
Cashew cheese! It’s so easy and quick and dairy- and soy-free!
I’d have to say that salad and fresh veggies are my favorite…but I’m also a big fan of raw granola…with pumpkin seeds. 🙂
